Abigail Hopkins | All The Times I
We are very pleased to announce the upcoming release of All The Times I (Single Edit) by Abigail Hopkins. It's a special, shortened version of the song, which is drawn from Abigail's current album Stardust. The single is due for release on 24th October 2025. Proceeds will go to The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity.
Abigail Hopkins on the moving, powerful and distinctive All The Times I:
“I wrote All the Times I towards the end of completing the Stardust album. It’s a song that almost wrote itself, but it was the most challenging song on the album to record. The strumming of the guitar sounds simple, yet the chord patterns are quite complex, giving the song a distinctive sound, I think. It has something of the feel of a stage musical number with piano parts building progressively.
Initially, I felt it was about past loves I had abandoned. In the first verse and the final repeated verse, I offer an apology to those I felt I may have hurt - ‘All the times I left you behind, without giving you a reason why, and I never even said goodbye.’ But now thinking about it, the song could equally address abandoned parts of ourselves, with the moonlight on the sea representing that state of unity which never ended.
Facing my own mortality and surviving cancer was a massive wake-up call for me. So I think All the Times I is also about daring to reclaim authenticity, to truly live life in all its moments, great and small, rather than hiding ourselves away. I was brought back in touch with my own truth and reminded of my connection with the rest of life. I was given the opportunity to remember my real self. I don’t have to ‘pretend’ so much anymore. Though of course all of this is still a work in progress; I’m always learning,” says Abigail Hopkins.
